The Tour de Barnstable Goes Virtual!

Thank you for staying on for our virtual ride!

What: A Virtual 38-mile ride. The best part is, you control all the settings! Want to do the full 38 miles at one time? Have at it! Want to ride five miles a day for 6+ days? More power to you! Crank up the heat and pretend you’re riding mid-July in the sun, or crank the AC and have your kids pelt you with pool floaties and water guns like it’s a nore’aster. You do you!

When: Now through Sunday, June 7!

Where: Preferably your living room, or in your neighborhood. Please do not gather in groups. Our goal is to keep everyone safe and at a social distance. If you choose to ride the 38-miles outside, please keep a safe distance from others.

The Zwift ride is happening at 8:30am on Sunday morning.  It is a ceremonial Tour De Barnstable 1 hour ride. The software keeps everyone together so riders of different abilities can still ride and socialize. Follow Cape Cod Sea Sports on Zwift before Saturday for the invite.

Why: Now more than ever we need trails and woods and open space as a refuge from being confined inside and from the worry and uncertainty around us. Thank goodness we have so many wonderful places tp go outside in Barnstable. By supporting BLT through this ride, YOU can make sure our trails are open and maintained for use, and YOU can help protect even more special places in the community.

How:

  • You can ride! Contact us to register for the virtual ride.

  • You can donate directly to the event! Click here to find a team or rider and support their fundraising efforts. We have been offered a generous $2,000 donation match! Please click the link to donate and support this match.

  • Be a virtual cheerleader! It takes a community to make a ride happen, and we need our cheerleaders now more than ever. Make a video of yourself cheering on your team virtually, riding your training bike in a funny costume, or any other fun thing you think will help people cross the virtual finish line. Make sure you stay connected! Please share your #DIYTourDeBarnstable photos and videos with us on social media.

  • You can fundraise! It may feel weird to ask for help fundraising right now, and we get it. You ask can be as simple as making a few posts on social media telling people you are still riding in the virtual Tour de Barnstable, and asking those friends, neighbors and relatives who are able to donate at this time to help you support Barnstable Land Trust and the special places in our community. We are here to support you with sample emails, helping you create social media posts, and more!
