Proposed Updates to By-laws and Articles of Organization

At Thursday’s Annual Meeting, BLT members were given notice about a proposed by-laws and articles of incorporation change to allow BLT to support conservation projects nearby, but outside the Town of Barnstable. That meeting was the beginning of the required 10-day notice period for by-laws changes. The information on the change is available at the below links.  At the meeting, the members voted unanimously for the change. We will hold a Zoom meeting at the end of the 10-day period to ratify the vote. If you are interested in joining that meeting, and voting on the proposed change, please email admin@blt.org.

The reason for this change is to allow Barnstable Land Trust to support conservation efforts with partners outside of our town boundaries. Several opportunities have arisen recently in Mashpee and Sandwich, that brought this matter to our attention and that suggested we amend the by-laws to allow us to provide support where needed. Although we have plenty of conservation work in the Town of Barnstable, we would like to be supportive for neighboring projects where we can.
